Mardi Gras Cocktails

“Big-Boned Tuesday”, or “Husky Tuesday”, just doesn’t have the same ring as Fat Tuesday. And that’s today, my friend — a day made for feasting and celebration! Do Mardi Gras right, parade on down to your nearest Spec’s to grab the ingredients you’ll need to make these N’awlins classics.

Hurricane

Ingredients

  • 1 oz dark rum
  • 1 oz light rum
  • 1 tbsp passion fruit flavored syrup
  • 2 tbsp lime juice

Directions

  1. Combine dark rum, light rum, passion fruit syrup, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, cover and shake until chilled.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Ramos Gin Fizz

Ingredients

  • 2 oz gin
  • 2 oz cold half-and-half
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • 2 tsp white sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 3 dashes orange flower water
  • 1 dash vanilla extract
  • 1 oz club soda

Directions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in gin, half and half, lemon juice, and lime juice. Add sugar, egg white, orange flower water, and vanilla extract.
  2. Shake vigorously and strain into a tall cocktail glass. Top off with club soda and enjoy!

Pimm’s Cup Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Pimm’s No. 1 (gin-based liqueur)
  • 3 oz ginger ale
  • 1 lemon slice
  • 1 cucumber slice

Directions

  1. Pour Pimm’s into pint glass, fill with ice. Top with ginger-ale. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a slice of cucumber.
