  1. I love Specs. Best liquor store in this great state…

But why is 1835 on this list? They, like all but a couple of the “Texas whiskey makers” don’t actually make their whiskey – and it’s not from Texas (Firestone and Walker, Yellow Ross, etc. also do this).

They buy bourbon from Kentucky or Idiana (almost every Rye whiskey not from a known distiller is from Indiana) and then at most water it down with Texas water and bottle it here (if they even do that!).

Why not mention Texas finest spirit – Balcones! With a number excellent and award winning offerings all of which are fully made in Texas. They source as much of the ingredients and materials as possible from TX and have created a genuine Texas whiskey tradition for going in five years.

Keep up the good work – and don’t forget the Balcones for Texas Independance Day!

    1. Thanks for your comment, and your continuing support of Spec’s!

We agree that Balcones is a great Texas whiskey — another great choice for your TX Independence Day celebration!

Thanks again, and stop back soon!
