Barons De Rothschild Los Vascos Grande Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Los Vascos Grande Reserve is a benchmark for elegance and finesse in Chile. A blend consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon it is produced using traditional vinification and maturing techniques. The wine is characterized by the complexity and persistence of its bouquet of cherries and blackcurrants (Cabernet Sauvignon) strawberries (Malbec) raspberries (Syrah) and plums with notes of bay leaves and black pepper (Carmenere). Rainfall was relatively low (347 mm) in 2010 and so irrigation was necessary as soon as the winter ended in August and September. This extra water enabled the vines to continue in a normal growth cycle. Temperatures were cool during the flowering stage resulting in lower yields with less compact bunches. Growth was then healthy and regular producing grapes of outstanding quality with remarkable concentration. The harvests took place between 6 April and 13 May.
