Chateau Berliquet St. Emilion

Purchased by the wertheimer family (chanel holland & holland ch. Rauzan segla ch. Canon) and now under the direction of nicolas audibert this is 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc adjacent to ch. Canon aged 18 months in (aged in all french oak barrels – 50% new). Red-purple color with well-formed legs; dry medium-full bodied with freshly balanced acidity and medium-plus phenolics with a really quite long finish. Sweeter than expected with dusty red and darker red fruit offering nuance from spice and earth oak and mineral. Supple and lively with a fine feel. Layered-textured-dimensional. This is what can happen when a new owner throws money resources skill and talent at a chateau. Bearscore: 94-96
