”pommard is one of the most famous towns of the co;te de beaune and produces only red wines. The soils are brown / red rich in hard limestone from the piedmont and give the wines among the most tannic and robust burgundy. They are more powerful than their beaune neighbors and it is often said that they are male wines. The premier cru the rugiens is located south of the town. The dominant red color of the soil could be the origin of the name of this climate. Tasting this pommard 1er cru the rugiens has a beautiful deep ruby color with raspberry nuances. His nose is powerful and fine at the same time with a dominant of red fruits followed by a woody-smoked very melted. On the palate this wine has a lot of density and racy tannins. Food pairing it accompanies fine red meats finely prepared game birds and wine sauces.” – maison albert bichot
