‘producer the mure family have been making wine in the southerly rouffach region since the end of the thirty years war in 1648; rene is the eleventh generation in charge and farms both the original holdings and the clos st landelin a thirteen-hectare plot within the grand cru vorbourg bought by his grandfather in 1935. Today his children veronique and thomas are in charge of the estate. Certified organic winemakers since 1999 the estate now works 22 hectares biodynamically with a special focus on the soils. Newer vines have been planted at high density (almost 10 000 per hectare) to encourage deeper roots. Hand-picking soft pressing of full grapes and natural yeasts help to keep the full expression of the terroir in the wines. Vineyard this wine comes from vines with an average age of thirty-three years grown on soils of clay and limestone. Winery the juice underwent a slow fermentation followed by maturation on fine lees. Taste a fresh nose with aromas of fruit particularly citrus. Rich and elegant on the palate with a streak of lime freshness. Exotic fruit and minerality on the finish.’- rene mure
