Saintsbury Vincent Vin Gris Pinot Noir

Vineyard when selecting fruit for our vin gris of pinot noir we look to our carneros vineyards that offer diversity in both aspect and clonal selection. This makes for a well-structured and vibrant rose. Terroir: carneros is known for its loam and clay soils and a mixture of flat land and rolling hillsides which has the reliable marine fog that rolls in every evening and burns off mid-morning. Vintage 2015 a warm spring led to early bud break and bloom while a cold may reduced fruit set and kept yields in check. Final ripening happened at a steady state and contributed to an early harvest with high fruit quality. Winemaking whole clusters of pinot noir from our home ranch vineyard are hand-picked at night and taken directly to press. The juice was pale in color but ethereal in aroma.
