Siduri Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountain

The 2013 siduri chehalem mountains pinot noir is the product of a great deal of work in the vineyards along with considered winemaking and finally an extremely strict selection during blending. For much of the 2013 growing season oregon looked spectacular and early. However on september 13 the rains arrived and unfortunately they stayed for far longer than we would have liked. By the time they ended over 6 inches had fallen on our vines and sugars had stalled. Fortunately we were able to capture some of what existed prior to the rain. We did that by removing leaves on certain blocks with good air-flow and that allowed them to dry out. We also sorted heavily in the winery and then bled off certain blocks where the berries seemed swollen to concentrate the remaining juice. When the fruit was clean we allowed it to ferment without the addition of yeast.
