Chateau Vieux Chateau St. Andre Montagne St. Emilion, 2012
$295.45 / case(12)
The freshness of the fruit that characterizes its wines comes partly from the cabernet franc (15% of the grape variety) associated with the dominant merlot partly also from the mainly limestone soil. But it results mainly from a unique vinification style: the berrouet style incarnated today by jean-francois following his father jean-claude berrouet. The latter has been the owner of vieux chateau saint-andre since 1979 as well as a vineyard in irouleguy. It is thanks to soft extractions favoring the brilliance of the fruit and only 15% new wood for breeding that the wines of vieux chateau saint-andre can restore this freshness. Aromatic on black cherry prune fig and cedar with a mineral touch they offer a beautiful structure woven by fine and melted tannins.
