Bourbon is one of those spirits - it's not all the same. Some bottles are as smooth as silk and can just be sipped on its own, while others are a real firecracker, full of spicy barrel flavor and best mixed into an Old Fashioned. And with more and more bottles, proofs, finishes and styles to pick from than you can shake a stick at, finding the best bourbon is actually all about finding the best bourbon for you.

Labor Day weekend - it’s the last excuse to get everyone together before the summer starts to slip away. You know the drill - fire up the grill, head to the lake, or just chill on the patio. A good bottle of wine can make any meal that much better and every moment a little more special.

If you're wondering about the difference, think of Cabernet Sauvignon as the bold, structured choice, while Merlot is typically smoother and fruitier—making it a fantastic option if you're just starting to explore red wines. While both are Bordeaux grapes that share the same family tree, they offer completely different experiences, from how they feel on your palate to their unique flavors and how they pair with your favorite meals.

You don't have to break the bank to get a really good wine. People love stumbling onto a bottle that tastes like its worth way more than it is. Fortunately, many of the best values come from regions with a rich winemaking history, talented producers who are passionate about quality, and wineries that believe in making great wines regardless of whether they have a fancy label or not.

Deciding between Mexican and American lagers comes down to a few key differences - how much complexity you want in your beer and what kind of experience you're looking for when you crack one open. Both styles offer up that classic "room temperature and a slice of lime" vibe, but they differ in some pretty key ways - like how much sweetness they pack, how their hops come across and the way they're brewed.

What says summer in Texas more than the smell of a hot grill wafting through the air? Whether it’s burgers on a weeknight, steaks on a Saturday, or a nice chunk of brisket that’s been slow-cooking since the crack of dawn, grilling just has a way of turning an ordinary meal into something special. Friends start to gather on the patio, someone's always hovering over the grill to check on the status of the meat, and that cooler never seems to stay stocked for long.

There are some drinks that just feel tailor-made for Texas - and Ranch Water is right up there with them. Light, crisp, citrusy, and ridiculously refreshing, Ranch Water has gone from a humble West Texas fave to one of the most popular canned cocktail styles on store shelves. It's no wonder. At its core, Ranch Water is a low-key, easy-going drink: tequila, lime, and some bubbly water, served ice-cold and preferably somewhere sunny.

Summer's finally here - but you already knew that, didn't you? Longer days, packed patios, grills firing up, and coolers making the rounds to pools, beaches, lakes, and backyard gatherings across Texas. Now, while there's a time and a place for those high-end Cabernets and special occasion bottles, summer's all about easy-drinking wines that deliver maximum refreshment without requiring a special occasion - or a special budget.

Walk into almost any bar, restaurant or grocery store these days and you'll probably see two very different worlds of beer sharing the same cooler space. On one side you've got the familiar domestic staples – light lagers and well known national brands which have been dominating American beer culture for decades. On the other side you've got the colourfully canned offerings of local breweries featuring hazy IPAs, barrel aged stouts, fruited sours, and all sorts of experimental seasonal releases.

Barbeque is about big flavors, lazy afternoons and grabbing a seat around the table with the gang. Whether it's a brisket that's been hanging out in the smoker for 14 hours, ribs smothered in that sticky sweet sauce or fresh Gulf shrimp sizzling on the grill - BBQ is all about throwing smoke, spice, texture and richness together. We all know beer is a BBQ regular, but wine can be one of the most unexpected - yet rewarding pairings of all.

The mint julep isn't just the official drink of the Kentucky Derby, it's a wonderfully refreshing tradition. Picture this: a simple but perfect blend of good bourbon, vibrant fresh mint, a touch of simple syrup, and a mountain of crushed ice—it's been the essential sip at Churchill Downs.

If you want a super zesty and refreshing margarita with the citrus really popping, tequila is probably the better choice. But if you're up for trying something a bit more adventurous and want that smoky complexity that kicks the whole drink up a notch, mezcal is definitely worth a shot. Honestly, they're both delicious in a margarita - just different.
