Bruichladdich Malt • Bere Barley
$135.78
Unpeated Islay Single Malt Whisky crafted from the most ancient strain of barley in Scotland. This barley varietal would have been commonly used by many distillers in the early days of whisky distillation in Scotland. However due to farmers and distilleries looking to drive efficiencies in the 20th Century this unique and temperamental type of barley became almost unused in Scotch Malt distilling. However Bruichladdich always looking to explore the flavor possibilities of barley varietals has released a number of expressions distilled with 100% Bere barley. This 2010 edition was crafted using Bere barley grown entirely on the remote Scottish island of Orkney and matured in American oak and ex-Bourbon casks.
