From the motive force of estate manager Veronique Dausse comes this 65% Cabernet Sauvignon 34% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc aged in all French oak barrels – 50% new. Due to its gently sloping terroir close to the banks of the Gironde Ch. Phelan Segur suffered no frost damage in 2017. Red-purple color with well-formed legs; dry medium bodied with freshly balanced acidity and medium phenolics with a really quite long finish. Subtle integrated balanced. Red fruit with gravel and tobacco. Good freshness. Takes a while to reveal in the mouth. BearScore: 94
