”CONDITIONS OF THE YEAR The autumn of 2014 was wet with November seeing particularly heavy rainfall. A cold but dry winter followed but the arrival of spring saw the arrival of average temperatures and low levels of humidity. June and July were very hot but August was unusually mild with cool nights that often saw temperatures drop to below 20ºC a positive in the Douro Valley. As a result the grapes matured uniformly throughout the vineyards and were in perfect condition as theywere handpicked and brought into the winery. VINIFICATION In the small dedicated Quinta de Roriz winery. The grapes were picked by hand and the bunches were manually sorted. The grapes were inoculated with selected yeast and maceration was achieved through pumping over. Fermentation temperatures were kept between 22ºC and 24ºC.
