The oldest mention of Kentucky and Maryland being on the same label dates back to 1934 with Frankfort Distillers. A company that had locations in both Louisville KY and Baltimore MD. Their whiskies featured an emblem adorning two hands shaking with one labeled KY and the other MD. Frankfort Distillers was bought by the Seagram-Distillers Corporation in 1943 and was finally dissolved in the 1960s. Nearly 80 years later Kentucky and Maryland are coming together once again to bring bourbon drinker’s rye. This blend showcases the sweet side of rye by uniting three rye whiskeys coming from two states known for their rye producing heritage.
