PRODUCTION AREA: Estate vineyards in the southern hills of Montalcino. Altitude: 300 meters above sea level. Position: Hillside. METHOD OF PRODUCTION: Selective grape harvest. The temperature-controlled fermentation (15-18°C) of the free-run juice is followed by storage at low temperature which leaves a small and natural effervescence. A few months after the harvest before the year ends bottling takes place. THE WINEMAKER COMMENT: This 100% Pinot Grigio belongs to Castello Banfi estate-bottled single-varietals range. Thanks to the Montalcino microclimate our Tuscan Pinot Grigio adds to the typical aromas of this variety an unusual body flavour and balance. SEASONAL OUTCOME: The mild winter sped up the beginning of the growing season by about 10 days but this was then slowed down by the abundant spring rains bringing back to the normality. By the second week of June and throughout the month of July there was a gradual and beneficial rise in temperatures. It followed an
