2006: Only half an average crop due to extremely strict sorting because of sour rot. The quality of Fargues in this vintage is unanimously recognized. Francois Amirault Operations Manager at Chateau de Fargues Harvest Picking began on 8th September. Pickers brought in superb super ripe grapes up until the 12th but also had to discard some bunches afflicted with sour rot caused by drosophila mosquitoes. Rainstorms lasting ten days put an end to the second pass. A tentative new effort was made on the 21st but this proved unsuccessful. The 3rd and 4th passes started on the 27th of September and 2nd of October. The quality of the botrytised grapes was excellent - even though over half of all bunches were damaged by sour rot and had to be eliminated. A real winegrowers and winemakers vintage.
