Mondavi Private Selection Merlot

Our 2015 Merlot has a deep ruby color. It opens with aromas of ripe cherry Asian plum and cranberry with hints of black olive tea leaf backing spice mocha brown sugar and sweet oak. Flavors of dark ripe cherry marionberry and plum follow with sweet brown sugar English toffee and mocha. The finish is soft and lingering. Enjoy this wine with rotisserie chicken meat ravioli grilled wild salmon and herbed soft cheese. Harvest: A cool spring followed a mild winter contributing to small intensely flavorful grape clusters. Summer progressed with nearly ideal conditions and harvest was smooth without any major frost events or heat spikes. Across the board the fruit showed a great balance of acidity and sugar and optimal color and flavor development. The resulting wines have superb color and show great depth complexity varietal intensity and balance.
