The wine is 100% Monastrell from dry famed estate vineyards in conversion to organic viticulture. The grape vines average 35 years and are located 650 meters above sea level. The vines are head pruned with a 2 ton per hectare yield. It is sorted then destemmed and fermented in stainless with light infrequent pump overs. The wine is then aged for 12 months in 25% new French barrique and bottled without filtration. It has purple red color with medium plus body chewy phenolics and balanced acidity. The wine shows dusty red and darker red fruit with some black fruit. Notes of coffee and black pepper are prevalent with hints of mineral earth. This wine is supple and alive but a little more elegant and refined than its little brother. BearScore: 92+
