In hindsight maybe brewing a black beer with a bold name was a bit much for the average beer drinker. But you knew. You weren't intimidated. You understood this is a Schwarzbier (also an intimidating name) - a classic German black lager. Like Pear Snap. In fact it basically is Pearl Snap with dark malts added. But you knew that.
