Kgb Taos Lightning Rye Governer's Reserve
Taos Lightning is a reboot by KGB Spirits of one of the oldest American whiskey brands. It was originally distilled in 1820 by Simon Turley of Arroyo Hondo New Mexico popularized by southwestern settlers fur trappers and Native Americans. Turley was killed in the Taos Pueblo Revolt of 1847 and now the brand rides again. It's made from 95% rye with 5% wheat aged at least 4 years in new charred oak in a warehouse at a high dry mountain elevation that is open to the elements. 5% ABV 90 Proof Tasting Notes: The aging environment produces a light-bodied refreshing style of rye. The typical spice flavors are more subtle allowing a delicate floral essence to blossom with notes of green tea grapefruit peel thyme and chive blossoms. The wheat in the mash bill contributes light honey sweetness all tied together with Wheaties cereal flavors. Awards: 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition Gold Medal
