The vintage the 2015 growing season was great for a second year in a row. Bud break was three weeks ahead of ‘normal’ and the growing season maintained that lead through to harvest. The summer’s consistently hot days were followed by warm nights and just the right amount of sprinkling rain. The higher than average overnight lows allowed grapes to mature faster without putting stress on the vines which lets the grapes come together in balance and flavor to produce an excellent wine. Yields were generous and overall quality was excellent. All fruit was hand harvested from september 3rd to october 5th 2015. The source grapes for this pinot noir are sourced from the foley family estate in the dundee hills and our doe ridge estate in the yamhill-carlton ava. The wine this 2015 willamette valley pinot noir is a beautiful ruby color with expressive aromas of red cherry peppercorn and forest floor. Cooler wetter weather in spring months slowed development however leading to a challenging extended bloom period. The resulting uneven fruit set translated to a small crop and smaller berries with very concentrated flavors. Weather throughout the summer growing season was consistently warm bringing on a very early harvest. This vintage’s blend sourcing is: 89% napa valley 6% mendocino and 5% russian river.
