”vintage & viticulture the 2014 vintage was a long vintage in the limestone coast. Harvest began mid-february and ended the first week of may. A long vintage is very favorable for producing quality wine from red grapes particularly the classic varieties of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. Prior to the summer harvest the winter was very wet-one of the wettest in the region for many years. The vineyards benefitted from the replenished soil moisture which sustained the vines during the hot weather that came in summer. Temperatures in the limestone coast region are generally a couple of degrees cooler than more central regions of south australia. From mid-march to early may moderate warm days and cool nights were ideal conditions for slow ripening and the creation of shiraz grapes with deep color outstanding avor intensity and ripe regionally distinctive tannins.
