Neal Family Vineyards Organic Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting notes: april 10 2017 – the harvest in 2016 came a week later than the year before coming close to a more ‘normal’ pattern after 5 years of drought conditions and very warm growing seasons. Grape chemistry and flavors were some of the best we have seen from the two vineyards producing this wine: my parent’s ranch called rutherford dust #1 vineyard and one on the lower eastern foothills of howell mountain in napa valley. These two vineyards complement each other providing classic sauvignon blanc character from rutherford and more floral tropical notes from the foothills. We continue to use the techniques of whole-cluster pressing cold-temperature stainless steel fermentation ‘sur lies’ aging and no oak for this wine. Our recipe enhances the strongly aromatic characters including pure sauvignon blanc fruit: lemongrass gooseberry kaffir & key limes.
