”VINEYARD DESCRIPTION Truchard Vineyard lies in the heart of Carneros prized for its rolling hills sun exposure and cool breezy conditions that allow long even ripening. Nickel & Nickel makes wine from fourteen select acres of this 270-acre vineyard composed of volcanic ash and rock with a southwestern exposure. The growing season tends to be long in this cooler area allowing for fully mature fruit at harvest. HARVEST NOTES 2014 was another beautiful growing season with a warm spring leading to an early bud break and bloom. Despite the low rainfall the vines produced healthy canopies and a normal cropload with slightly larger berries. The summer months were moderate which offered perfect ripening conditions. This vineyard has both east- and west-facing blocks and the west-facing hills were the first to be harvested this vintage. The addition of a lower block extended the harvest window but contributed new fruit flavors to the wine adding more depth and complexity. SEN
