Pahlmeyer Jayson Chardonnay

Vintage notes the 2014 growing season was the third in a string of stunning napa valley vintages. Dry mild temperatures gave us early budbreak and the persistent drought helped produce small berries with concentrated flavors and elegant tannins. Harvest arrived early too but the overall length of the season was average for full ripening and fresh balanced acidity. This year may go down in history for the earthquake that rocked napa days before harvest. Fortunately our employees were unharmed and our estate vineyard was safe but our greater community was deeply shaken and the event defined the entire season. Winemaking notes in the cellar our grapes were hand-sorted and gently whole-cluster pressed. After settling overnight the juice was racked to barrels for 100% native yeast barrel fermentation followed by malolactic fermentation.
