Trentadue Old Patch Red

The 2014 harvest began with one of the earliest bud breaks in history. Our old vine block 601 sangiovese was the first block to awaken on march 10. The rest of the varieties followed with 3 weeks earlier than normal bud break and as you may have guessed the early harvest was a record as well. Other than that the growing conditions were just about perfect with normal to slightly below normal yields. The best thing about the early harvest was that the mallolactic fermentations finished quickly due to the warm weather. Named for the original 1896 plantings our old patch red has remained the all time favorite among legions of trentadue fans for over three decades. The 2014 old patch lot 42 is predominately zinfandel blended with petite sirah and carignane resulting in a very fruity yet complex and full-bodied rhone-like style of wine.
