Hill Country Wineries make us proud to be a Texan. You can find some great ones scattered all across the region, from far north of San Antonio, to east of Lampasas. Most offer very informative tours throughout their scenic vineyards. But what really puts the icing on the cake, are the wine samples from their tasting rooms.
Take a day trip to any one of the following Texas Hill Country wineries, and we guarantee you’ll feel that Texas pride swell in you with each sip of ‘cowboy cabernet’.
Texas Hill Country Wineries
Four Point Cellars, Fredericksburg
The name 4.0 Cellars is inspired by the three separate wineries that came together to form a matchless fourth winery, but the name also encompasses their shared goal of “striving for 4.0 perfection.” We recommend their Brennan Vineyards Cabernet.
Grape Creek Vineyards, Fredericksburg
A truly Tuscan-inspired wine tasting experience you won’t soon forget. Grape Creek Vineyards is a wine club winery, but their doors are always open to guests who want to tour and sample their varietals from their 100-acre vineyard.
Pontotoc Vineyard, Fredericksburg
Boasting an intimate environment and family atmosphere, Pontotoc Vineyard is well worth the trip! History buffs will appreciate the charm of this 1872 farm property with its rustic sandstone architecture. During your visit, you simply cannot miss sampling the Estate Tempranillo.
Bell Springs Winery, Dripping Springs
A relaxed atmosphere with live music, and outstanding hand crafted wine.
Pedernales Cellars, Stonewall
This company boasts six generations of winemakers. How’s that for experience? Pedernales Cellars focuses on sustainable practices and Spanish-style wines. Their 146 acres overlook the Pedernales River, but if the view isn’t enough to convince you to visit—their Spanish and Rhone-style wines have won multiple awards.
Duchman Family Winery, Driftwood
Everything produced by Duchman is worth savoring, but one of our favorites is the Canto Felice. It is primarily a sangiovese blend that bridges between sweet and dry.
Dry Comal Creek, New Braunfels
A small boutique wine producer located on some truly captivating land nestled in New Braunfels. We recommend their Comal Red XIV.
William Chris Vineyards, Hye
William Chris Vineyards boast a majestically restored Dieke family farmhouse, and they offer barrel tastings, live music, and true Southern hospitality. Their wine is grown with 100% Texan grapes in varietals such as Cabernet, Sauvignon, Merlot, and Mourvedre. Wine enthusiasts will relish!
Hye Meadow Winery, Hye
A true Texas winery, Hye Meadow’s vintages are made with 100% Texas fruit on-site. They specialize in blends; sample one on their majestic outdoor patio and you will not regret it.
Westcave Cellars, Round Mountain
Nestled 30 minutes from Austin near the Hamilton Pool Preserve, Westcave Cellars Winery is a Hill Country hidden gem that’s not to be missed! They have an outstanding Viognier and Chenin Blanc.
There are so many more amazing wineries located here in the Lone Star State. So if you want to experience them without actually making the trip, just ask the wine experts from your local Spec’s for their recommendation. It just might become your new favorite wine!
