5 Best Texas Vodkas

Top Five Texas Vodkas - Spec's Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods

There may be a small red mark from lightly banging my forehead against the desk. That’s what happens when you have to choose the best among so many awesome choices! It was really hard to pick the top 5 Texas vodkas because the state of Texas has produced some truly outstanding ones over the years!

Eventually, we managed to settle on several that seemed to shine above the rest. Here are our top 5 picks for the best Texas vodka brands available on the market today!

1. 1835 Texas Lone Star Vodka

Clean, smooth, crisp and highly mixable—everything great vodka should be. 1835 Texas Lone Star Vodka makes us proud to call this fine state our home. Sip it slowly and you can make out the light notes of oak and vanilla on the finish. We highly recommend this vodka!

2. Tito’s Handmade Vodka

Tito’s has been a household name for Texas vodka for many years now, and for good reason. The Austin-based vodka distillery takes a real craft approach to their product. They use old-fashioned pot stills and taste-test every batch; this process is similar to that used to make fine single malt scotches and high-end French cognacs. It takes more skill and effort but boy does it pay off in the taste.

3. Deep Eddy Texas Vodka

Another Austin distillery: Deep Eddy Vodka takes great pride in their craft. Their vodkas are column distilled 10 times using corn, clear and pure Texas water, and natural flavors. Their vodkas are award winning and come in a wide variety of mixable flavors. Our personal favorite is the Ruby Red Grapefruit Vodka.

4. Dash Texas Vodka

Dash Texas Vodka is a relatively new kid on the Texas vodka block. Founded in 2012, Dash is a premium quality, organic, and gluten-free vodka made with wheat and sun-roasted Thomson raisins. They utilize the latest technology yet implement old-fashioned fermentation and distillation methods, through a hybrid, handmade copper still. This mix of techniques yields an outstanding product! Dash really cares about quality, so much so that every batch is sampled and analyzed in an on-site lab to achieve consistency and a high level of standard.

5. Dripping Springs Vodka

Handcrafted in the Texas Hill Country, Dripping Springs Vodka is lush, and balanced, with a smooth finish. This vodka took home the Gold Best in Class and the Vodka Purity Trophy at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2008. It is the only American vodka to have won the vodka purity trophy of the ISWC in 47 years. I know that doesn’t sound like much to most people, but this is the world’s largest and most prestigious liquor and wine competition. That’s like saying it took home an Olympic gold medal for vodka clarity.

This is all just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the best Texas vodkas.  If you’re looking to learn more about flavored vodka or more Texas liquor recommendations, then ask the ever-helpful staff working at your local Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods.

Cheers, y’all!
