Bastille Day is celebrated with various festivities throughout France. The day typically begins with military parades and continues with public gatherings, fireworks displays, concerts, and cultural events. People come together to enjoy picnics, dance, and partake in traditional French cuisine and, of course, wine. Wine holds great meaning and significance in French culture and we, at Spec’s, are here to celebrate that with our Bastille Day French Wine Sale!

Anne de Laweiss Cremant Brut - on sale for $12.97

Anne de laweiss is one of the premier producers of cremant in France and helped create the Cremant D’Alsace AOC in 1976; today they are again leading the region in converting to organic and sustainable viticulture. The cremant brut is aged for 18 months to enhance complexity while preserving its lively aromas and flavors.

Anne de Laweiss Cremant Rose Brut- on sale for $12.97

Anne de Laweiss is a top producer of sparkling cremant and is hugely influential in Alsace with its commitment to organic and sustainable viticulture. The cremant rose brut is created entirely from hand-picked pinot noir grapes and aged for 15 months making for a bubbly dominated by strawberry and cherry with subtle nuances.

Anne de Laweiss Gewurztraminer - on sale for $11.97

Anne de Laweiss is named for an advocate of Alsatian wines from the 16th century who was famous in the region for her beauty which allegedly came from the waters of the local Weiss river. With considerations made to organic and sustainable viticulture, the Gewurztraminer has citrus and tropical fruit tones, with slight spice on the finish.

Anne de Laweiss Pinot Gris - on sale for $11.97

Anne de Laweiss is a cooperative winery comprising more than 400 winegrower families farming around 10% of all vineyards in Alsace; viticulture practices are undergoing conversion to organic and sustainable operations. The pinot gris has expressive flavors of apricot and yellow plum, with a touch of flint in the background.

Anne de Laweiss Riesling - on sale for $11.97

Anne de Laweiss produces its non-sparkling wines in the village of Bennwihr – shouting distance from the Rhine river and German border – and practices organic and sustainable ideals in its viticulture. The riesling is loaded with honeysuckle and jasmine on the nose, with ripe mandarin key lime and other citrus tones on the palate.

Anne de Laweiss Gewurztraminer Grand Cru - on sale for $17.97

From Wine Enthusiast: “This wine is ripe, full while also fresh. A rounded character gains texture from the dry spiciness of nutmeg and pepper. Acidity holds this wine together and gives it fine potential. Drink from 2017.”

Anne de Laweiss Pinot Gris Grand Cru - on sale for $17.97

Expressive nose, very characteristic of the grape variety, with aromas of yellow fruit (apricot, mirabelle plum) and a smoky note on the finish. The palate is fairly ample and well structured. It retains the character of the nose, and the fruity finish offers great length.

A Riesling born on a granitic single vineyard which is one of the biggest and oldest places known in Alsace. A mineral and flower nose with a racy taste.

Ch Beau Site St Estephe - on sale for $29.97

Chateau Beau Site is located adjacent to Chateau Calon Segur on the highest plateau overlooking St Estephe. From James suckling: extremely enticing aromas of ripe plums and peaches with spices such as nutmeg. Full-bodied deep and firmly textured with beautiful fruit and a lovely long and flavorful finish.

Ch Camino Salva Haut Medoc - on sale for $13.97

A cabernet sauvignon-dominant blend with merlot and cabernet franc fermented in concrete tanks and aged in 60% in french oak barrels. Medium-bodied with freshly balanced acidity from ripe red fruit notes accented with gravel-dust terroir and tobacco leaf with a hint of pencil shavings. Fantastic value.

Ch Crabitey Rouge Graves - on sale for $17.97

The vineyards of Chateau Crabitey rest on a plateau overlooking the Garonne river and are filled with classic gravel over clay soils. The cabernet sauvignon planted here throws off powerful blackberry and plum notes while the merlot blended in adds nuanced minerality and softens the tannins.

Ch Franc La Rose St Emilion - on sale for $23.97

Chateau Franc La Rose comes from a miniscule vineyard on a plateau planted to 40-year-old vines in clay over limestone. Mostly merlot, the wine takes on a dark complexion from the 25% cabernet franc used in the blend. Ripe and fresh with black cherry and baking spice tones, supported by fine silky tannins.

Ch Haut Bages Monpelou Pauillac - on sale for $34.97

Marked by aromas of ripe berries, evoking a good balance between fruit and wood. Precise tannic attack without aggressiveness of fondue. Pleasant on the palate.

Ch Haut St Jacques Puisseguin St Emilion - on sale for $14.97

Chateau Haut St Jacques is located in Puisseguin St Emilion, to the northwest of Libourne. Sustainable practices are used to farm and craft this elegant red fruit-dominated wine. Mostly merlot, a large proportion of cabernet franc (around 1/4) gives this wine some spice and backbone.

Ch Haut Vigneau Rouge Pessac Leognan - on sale for $20.97

The Perrin family of neighboring classed growth Chateau Carbonnieux has restored this estate, which now produces some impressive wines. This wine is elegant, structured, young and bold with dark fruits and tannins that have potential. Wine Enthusiast Editors’ Choice.

Ch Lauriol Francs Cotes de Bordeaux - on sale for $12.97

Crafted by the renowned Thienpont family from a property next to Chateau Puygueraud, Lauriol has a very unique identity. The wine is made entirely from merlot & aged with minimal oak intervention, resulting in ripe fruit- forward flavors with fine tannins and soft structure.

Ch Les Tours Seguy Cotes de Bourg - on sale for $9.97

A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc with a strict aging regimen detailed by the winemaker, this wine offers tremendous depth and character beyond its price.

Ch Teynac St Julien - on sale for $36.97

Good fruit on the nose with hints of tobacco and cedar. Medium-bodied, with an extremely smooth finish.

Ch Tour de Marchesseau Lalande de Pomerol - on sale for $16.97

Chateau Tour De Marchesseau is located directly on the northern border of the Pomerol commune. Here, the merlot and cabernet franc grown in clay/gravel soils are vinified using traditional methods with minimal intervention. Primary and fruity, with strong red fruit (currant) notes alongside lush tannins.

The Château Trocard Bordeaux Superieur is one of the best wines in its class. Made from a blend of merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, this wine has been awarded many times over by most prestigious publications and competitions. A blend of cabernet sauvignon merlot and petit verdot, the Grands Periples has red and black fruit tones with subtle minerality and round tannins.

Ch Trocard "Le Blanc" Bordeaux - on sale for $9.97

A classic bordeaux blanc made from 60% sauvignon blanc and 40% semillon. This wine is aged entirely in stainless steel to preserve freshness. Aromas of acacia flowers and clementine with grapefruit on the palate. Refreshing acidity makes this a great pairing for shellfish but also an excellent aperitif.

Clos des Lunes Blanc Bordeaux - on sale for $18.97

Located at the southern end of Bordeaux's left bank, Clos Des Lunes is a beautiful vineyard planted to old vine semillon and sauvignon blanc. Produced by the Bernard family of Domaine De Chevalier the Clos Des Lunes is intensely aromatic and has expressive notes of white peach, ripe ruby red and honeysuckle.

Haut Charmes Sauternes (Half Bottle) - on sale for $12.97

This rich apricot and mango-flavored wine has sweetness and ripe botrytis that is developing well. The generous texture hints that it has a future as a mature ripe and opulent wine.
