Halloween Movie Drink Pairings

There’s something perfect about curling up with your favorite ghoul pal and making yourself too terrified to leave the couch. So, this Halloween season, you’ll want to keep the bar cart within reach as you pair up one of these frightfully delicious drinks with some classic spooky films!

The Shining + Redrum

Ingredients

• 2 oz. aged rum
• 1 oz. fresh lemon juice
• 1 oz. simple syrup
• 1 oz. red wine
• 2 sticks cinnamon (and 2 for garnish)

Directions

1. Combine aged rum, lemon juice, simple syrup and two sticks of cinnamon in a shaker.
2. Add ice, cap and shake for 10 seconds.
3. Strain into two rocks glasses containing ice.
4. Gently pour red wine over the back of a bar spoon to create a float on each of the cocktails. Garnish with remaining cinnamon sticks.

Paranormal Activity + Paranormal Activity Cocktail

Ingredients

• 1 oz. Lucid Absinthe
• 1 oz. white crème de cacao liqueur
• 1 oz. coconut milk
• drizzle of black Sambuca

Directions

1. Pour the absinthe into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Let it sit for approximately 45 to 60 seconds to let it “lush” before adding the coconut milk and crème de cacao. Cover and shake vigorously.
2. Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass over ice. Finish with a drizzle of black Sambuca and serve.

Halloween + Buffalo Bayou Pumpkin Spice Latte

The Halloween series offers you 11 films to choose from with two more due out in 2021 and 2022. We’re not saying they’re all worth your time, but the original certainly is and if you’re looking for more modern scares, checkout Rob Zombie’s 2007 or 2009 versions.

Hocus Pocus + Witches Brew

Ingredients

• 2 oz. mixed pineapple and cranberry juice
• 2 oz. 7-Up or Sprite
• 1-¼ shot Coconut Rum

Directions

1. Mix juices and 7-Up or Sprite in a highball glass.
2. Pour shot of rum down the side of the glass right before drinking.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (The Animated 1949 Version) + Sleepy Hollow Cocktail

Ingredients

• ½ oz. absinthe
• 2 oz. mezcal
• 1 oz. Elizabeth allspice dram
• 2 dashes angostura bitters
• rosemary sprig, for garnish

Directions

1. Pour absinthe into a rocks glass; swirl to coat, and discard liqueur.
2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add mezcal, S Elizabeth, and 2 dashes of bitters.
3. Strain cocktail into a glass over ice.
4. Light rosemary with a lighter or culinary torch until smoking and place it in the glass. Serve immediately.
