Athlete-Owned Wines & Spirits

Athlete-Owned Wines & Spirits - Spec's Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods

Professional athletes have been endorsing products for decades; everything from shoes and apparel to cars and food. 99% of those are not made by the athlete, just endorsed. But when it comes to alcohol, athletes are much more involved in the creation and production of these brands. But are any of them any good?

Check out our collection of top-rated wines and spirits from professional football players and, in some cases, entire teams. Raise your spirits with team sprits and bring home the win at Spec’s!

Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Dallas Cowboys Special Edition

Recently, the Dallas Cowboys teamed up with Josh Cellars for a new signature wine; a Special Edition Cabernet Sauvignon that is now available at AT&T Stadium and throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Charlotte Jones Anderson, Cowboys’ chief brand officer, was a part of the whole process, from grape selection to bottle design.

Round and juicy, our Cabernet Sauvignon has flavors of cherry, coffee, and spice, complemented by hints of vanilla and a Cowboys victory.

Maker’s Mark Maker’s 46 Cowboys Edition

To celebrate the NFL in Texas (the Cowboys!), Maker’s Mark Bourbon released a limited number of bottles to select liquor stores in the Dallas / Fort Worth area with Dallas Cowboys-inspired bottles of Maker’s 46. The bottles were appropriately double dipped in navy and silver compared to the traditional red wax.

Maker’s 46 is aged a bit longer inside barrels containing seared French oak staves. The staves create bolder, more complex flavors while eliminating the bitterness that usually comes with whiskies that are aged longer.

Intercept Wines

Check out high-scoring Intercept Wines from Charles Woodson: the Heisman Trophy Winner, Super Bowl Champ, Hall of Famer and now wine proprietor! Intercept Wines recently announced a yearlong partnership with the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the proud wine partner for the 2021-2022 season. This comes during the same year in which 18-year NFL veteran and owner of Intercept Wines, Charles Woodson, is to be enshrined into the Hall of Fame.

Sweetens Cove Bourbon

Founded by Peyton Manning (and Andy Roddick), Sweetens Cove Bourbon is named after a famous golf course in Tennessee. Sure, Sweetens Cove is a “celebrity” spirit, but the real talent is the one that crafts this exceptional bourbon and that’s Marianne Eaves, a legend in the world of whiskey.

A blend of Tennessee bourbons aged 4, 6, and 16 years provides a warm forward spice that melts into dried citrus fruit and honey with a splash of oak on the back palate.
