Cheese Plate Perfection!

If you’re not a professional cheese monger, the idea of building your own tasting plate can be daunting. With these tips, you can easily whip up an impressive cheese pleaser!

  1. Mix it up! Keep it balanced and interesting with a variety of textures and cheeses from cow, goat and sheep’s milk to ensure a wide range of flavors.
  2. Don’t come up short! The general rule of thumb is to purchase 3-4 ounces per person.
  3. Get creative! Jazz up your cheese plate with honey, chutneys, spicy mustards, artichoke hearts, figs, roasted red peppers and caramelized onions.
  4. Serve it up! It’s best to separate strong-smelling cheeses so they don’t overpower the more delicate varieties. Serve your cheese plate at room temperature (cold cheese will have muted flavor). Be sure to label each variety to avoid repeating the names to your guests.
