Cinco de Mayo is all about celebrating Mexican culture and heritage. And while there is absolutely more to this day than tequila and tacos, but we’ll be focusing on tequila as well as some other fun items you’ll need to throw the perfect Cinco de Mayo party!

Tequila

Pitcher Perfect Rita Recipe

Of course, you’ll need a margarita, but instead of having to stand there making the same drink over and over again why not just whip up and easy pitcher-sized recipe that’ll free you up to enjoy the party?

Ingredients

• 2 cups tequila
• 1 cup triple sec
• ¾ cup fresh lime juice
• ¾ cup sweetened lime juice
• 3 cups ice
• kosher salt
• 8 lime wedges

Directions

1. Combine the tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, sweetened lime juice, and ice in a large pitcher; stir.
2. Pour the kosher salt onto a plate. Rub the rim of a glass with a lime wedge. Dip the rim of the glass into the salt; fill glass with margarita mixture; repeat for each serving.

You’ll also want a quality tequila for shots like Olmeca Altos Reposado which is aged for six to eight months in white oak casks previously used for maturing bourbon. The barrels give it a woody vanilla flavor with sweet bourbon undertones. The finish is bright and citrusy. On the nose, you’ll notice a fresh, sweet, and fruity aroma with notes of cooked agave.
