Festive for Fat Tuesday!

Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, and that means Mardi Gras beads, parades and a perfect excuse to celebrate! We’ve put together a collection of classic New Orleans cocktails to help set the mood. So grab a slice of king cake and make sure to wash it down with one of these Cajun classics!

Hurricane
2 oz dark rum
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz passion fruit syrup

Combine ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake well and pour into a glass. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

Pimm’s Cup
8 oz Pimm’s No. 1 Cup
3 cups lemon lime soda
½ cucumber, sliced
8 strawberries, sliced
½ orange, sliced
½ lemon, sliced
1 qt ice
Mint sprigs for garnish

Layer fruit slices and ice in a pitcher. Add Pimm’s and soda. Stir slowly with a wooden spoon. Pour into glasses and garnish with mint sprigs.

Brandy Milk Punch
2 oz brandy
1 cup milk
1 tsp powdered sugar
Freshly grated nutmeg for garnish

In a cocktail shaker, combine brandy, milk, sugar and 3 ice cubes. Shake until frothy and strain into a glass filled with cracked ice. Sprinkle with nutmeg and enjoy!

Sazerac
2 oz rye whiskey
1 tsp absinthe
1 tsp sugar
3-4 dashes of bitters
Lemon peel for garnish

In a mixing glass, combine sugar, bitters and 3 drops of water. Mix until sugar dissolves. Stir in rye whiskey and ice. In your serving glass, pour absinthe and rotate until inside is well coated and discard the excess. Strain the liquid from your mixing glass into your serving glass and garnish with a lemon peel.
