Prank-tails for April 1

You might be surprised to know April Fool’s Day has been around longer than mischievous co-workers. Back in 1700, practical jokers in England started making the first day of April a popular pranking tradition. We’ve gathered some “prank-tail” recipes that are guaranteed to coax out the hoax side of you.

Faux Cosmo

2½ oz gin
½ oz aperol
½ oz ruby red grapefruit
Lime wedge for garnish

Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Sham-hattan

1½ oz rum
2 oz apple juice
3 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
Cherry for garnish

Combine all ingredients into a large, ice-filled mixing glass. Stir well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a cherry.

Jestini
1½ oz gin
1½ oz white grape juice
¼ oz white balsamic vinegar
¼ oz simple syrup
Green olive for garnish

Combine all ingredients into a large, ice-filled mixing glass and stir well. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with an olive.
