Celebrate National Margarita Day With 5 Refreshing Margarita Recipes

Margaritas are arguably the lushest and popular of all tequila-based cocktails. And they’re popular for good reason! But they don’t just come in the lime variety, my thirsty amigos. Margaritas have many versatile, fiesta-inducing flavors. And in honor of National Margarita Day, we’ve picked out 5 of our favorites. Try one (or a few) of the recipes and we bet you and your party guests will be quite impressed.

Watermelon Rita

Ingredients

  • 2 oz of silver tequila
  • 1 oz of fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz of simple syrup
  • Dash of Cointreau
  • Coarse sea salt (optional)

Directions

  1. Use a shaker top to crush the watermelon in the bottom of a pint glass.
  2. Fill the glass up with ice and add the rest of the ingredients. S
  3. hake vigorously for five to ten seconds.
  4. Rim a margarita glass with salt and fill it with ice.
  5. Strain the mixture into the glass and garnish with a small watermelon wedge.

Mango Orange Margarita 

(makes 2)

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • ¾ cup orange juice
  • ¾ cup mango nectar
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp lime zest
  • 2 lime wedges

Directions

  1. Combine chili powder and lime zest on a shallow plate.
  2. Rim the glass using the chili combination for the dry, and a lime wedge for the wet. I
  3. n a large measuring cup, combine orange juice, mango nectar, agave nectar, tequila and lime juice, then stir.
  4. Distribute evenly into your rimmed glasses.
  5. Add ice and garnish each with a lime wedge.

Raspberry Grapefruit Margarita

Ingredients

Garnish:
Grapefruit salt
Fresh raspberries
Sliced lime
Sliced grapefruit

Directions

  1. Zest ½ a grapefruit and mix together with 1 tbsp salt.
  2. Wet the rim of a glass with a slice of lime and rim in the grapefruit salt.
  3. Fill glass with ice.
  4. Shake remaining ingredients together and strain over ice.
  5. Garnish with fresh raspberries, a slice of lime, and a slice of grapefruit.

Blue Catalina Margarita

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz tequila
  • 1 oz peach schnapps
  • 1 oz blue curacao
  • ½ oz fresh sour mix

Directions

  1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well.
  2. Strain into a chilled margarita glass.

Jalapeño and Cucumber Margarita

(Serves 4)

Ingredients

  • ½ cup tequila, or more to taste
  • ¼ cup orange liqueur
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice
  • ¼ cup simple syrup1 jalapeño pepper, halved and seeded
  • 4 thin slices cucumber
  • 4 wedges lime
  • 2 tbsp kosher salt
  • 4 slices cucumber

Directions

  1. Stir tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup together in a pitcher and add jalapeño pepper and thin cucumber slices.
  2. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  3. Run a wedge of lime along the rim of each of four pint glasses.
  4. Spread kosher salt onto a flat plate; press glass rims into salt to coat.
  5. Fill glasses with ice and pour margarita over the ice. Garnish with cucumber slices and enjoy!
