Fresh Botanical Cocktails - Spec's Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods

Nothing screams spring like colorful flowers and fresh blooms! And we can’t think of a more suiting way to praise the petals than by adding them to a cocktail!

Botanical cocktails are as delicious as they are beautiful, and we think they’re the perfect way to welcome in the changing of the seasons! Check out some of our favorite floral and herbal cocktails and be sure to hit up your local florists or garden for the pretty plant parts!

 

Herb Gardner

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz Patrón Silver
  • ¾ oz. Fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz. Simple syrup
  • 2 dash Aromatic bitters
  • Sprig each of sage, rosemary, cilantro and mint
  • Boutonniere of lime peel & fresh herbs for garnish

Directions

  1. Muddle sage, rosemary, cilantro, mint and lime peel in a cocktail shaker with simple syrup, lime juice, two drops bitters and Patrón Silver.
  2. Shake with ice and strain into a highball glass with ice.
  3. Garnish with fresh herbs.

Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake for a full 10 seconds.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Garnish with an edible violet and enjoy.

 

It’s Limoncello Gin Thyme

Ingredients

  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme (plus more to garnish)
  • 2 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. limoncello
  • .5 oz fresh lime juice
  • Splash of bubble water

Directions

  1. Add the fresh thyme to a cocktail shaker and muddle gently.
  2. Add the gin, limoncello, and fresh lime juice.
  3. Fill with ice and stir thoroughly until cold.
  4. Strain into a glass filled with ice and top with bubble water, if desired.
  5. Garnish with fresh thyme and lime or lemon wheels or wedges.

 

Chamomile + Pink Grapefruit Paloma

Ingredients

  • ½ Ruby Red grapefruit, juiced
  • 2 tbsp. Chamomile Simple Syrup (recipe below)
  • 2 oz. rosé tequila
  • Splash of seltzer water
  • ½ tsp. fresh orange zest
  • Handful of Ice
  • Rose Salt or kosher salt
  • Fresh, organic chamomile flowers for garnishing

Directions

  1. Rim each glass with salt.
  2. Place ice, grapefruit juice, seltzer water and tequila in glass and stir.
  3. Garnish with fresh chamomile flowers or ¼ slice of grapefruit.

Chamomile Simple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon organic, dried chamomile flowers (you can use a bag of chamomile tea)
  • 1 cup organic sugar
  • 1 cup filtered water

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Allow to simmer until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain through a fine mesh sieve.
  2. If you are using a bag of chamomile tea rather than the whole flowers, simply make the simple syrup without the flowers. Then, once the sugar has dissolved, remove from heat and add the teabag. Allow to steep for about 10 minutes. Discard teabag.
  3. Place in a squeaky-clean, airtight container and store in the fridge for up to two weeks.

 

Water Lily

Ingredients

  • ¾ oz. triple sec
  • ¾ oz. crème de violette
  • ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ 8oz. gin
  • Strip of orange zest, for garnish

Directions

  1. Combine triple sec, crème de violette, lemon juice, and gin into a cocktail shaker filled with ice; shake vigorously and strain into a coupe.
  2. Garnish with orange zest.
