It’s time for Dry January and we’ve got some super tasty mocktails to help get you through it in style! Gone are the days of simply excluding alcohol to make a virgin cocktail. Nowadays, mocktails have basically started a whole new category of delicious drinks with their own unique ingredients. So, whether it’s a substitution, a variation, or a standalone sipper, we’ve got you covered with some mouthwatering favorites for Dry January!
Salted Watermelon Juice
Ingredients
Makes about 4 cups
- 6 cups cubed watermelon (from ¾ of a 6-lb. baby seedless watermelon)
- ¾ tsp. kosher salt
- Lime wedges (for serving; optional)
Directions
- Purée watermelon in a blender until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher or measuring glass, pressing on solids to extract as much juice as possible, and discard solids. Mix in salt.
- Pour the juice into ice-filled glasses. Garnish with lime wedges if desired.
Chili Lime Pineapple Soda
Ingredients
(12 servings)
- 1 Tbsp pink peppercorns, crushed
- 1 lime, juiced
- 2 dried chiles de arbol
- 4 cups pineapple juice
- ½ cup sugar
- 10 cups club soda
Directions
- Place the crushed peppercorns, lime juice, dried chilies, pineapple juice, and sugar in a large, airtight container and seal. Store in the fridge for at least 12 hours or longer if possible.
- Strain the pineapple juice mix through a mesh sieve and discard the peppercorns and chiles.
- Pour ¼ cup of the pineapple juice over ice and then top with the soda. Enjoy cold.
Chocolate Mocktini
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk
- ¼ cup chocolate syrup
- ¼ cup chocolate flakes
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- cup ice
- Extra chocolate sauce for garnish
Directions
- Drizzle some of the extra chocolate sauce around the inside of two martini glasses. Drizzle a ring of chocolate sauce around the rim of each glass.
- Spread the chocolate flakes over a small dish and dip the rim of each martini glass in the chocolate flakes. Set the glasses aside while you mix the drink.
- Add the ice to a large cocktail shaker
- Pour the milk, chocolate sauce vanilla, and salt in the cocktail shaker.
- Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds.
- Strain the mocktail into the prepared glasses. Sprinkle any extra chocolate flakes into the glass.
- Enjoy while cold and frothy!
Matcha Mojito
Ingredients
- 4 ounces of hot water
- ¼ tsp matcha powder
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 lime, juiced
- 20 mint leaves
- 1 cup club soda
- Ice
- Lime wedges and extra mint for garnish
Directions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the hot water and matcha powder until smooth. The matcha should completely dissolve. Set aside to cool.
- Add the brown sugar and mint leaves to a cocktail shaker and muddle together, crushing the mint leaves as you mix.
- Squeeze the lime juice into the cocktail shaker with the mint then toss the juiced lime in the shaker as well.
- Add the matcha powder and water to the shaker and fill with ice.
- Cover the cocktail shaker and shake hard for about 20 seconds.
- Add crushed ice to two large glasses and strain the matcha mix into each glass.
- Top each drink with club soda then garnish with lime wedges and extra fresh mint leaves. Enjoy cold.
Safe Sex on the Beach (Mocktail)
Ingredients
- ½ cup orange juice
- ½ cup cranberry juice
- 2 Tbsp peach nectar
- 1 Tbsp grenadine syrup
- Pineapple wedge
- Cherry
Directions
- Fill a highball glass with ice.
- Pour the orange juice over the ice followed by the cranberry juice.
- Top the glass with peach nectar and grenadine.
- Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cherry.
