Tropical Rum Cocktails

There’s just something about the taste of a tropical rum cocktail that can instantly transport you to a palm tree-lined beach. The steel drums fade in as the surf tickles your toes and the fresh saltwater air dances under your nose. No matter where you’re sitting, all it takes is one sip of paradise in a glass to have you longing for some serious R&R.

So, in lieu of sunburns and jellyfish, we’ve put together a few of our favorite, lesser known, tropical rum cocktails that’ll have your sea legs running back for refills! 🏴‍☠️

Pirate Punch

Sweet, fruity, big batch deliciousness!

Ingredients

• 8 oz cranberry juice cocktail chilled (1 cup)
• 8 oz orange juice chilled (1 cup)
• 8 oz pineapple juice chilled (1 cup)
• 4 oz dark rum (½ cup)
• 4 oz white rum (½ cup)
• 2 oz amaretto liqueur (¼ cup)
• pineapple slices orange slices, and maraschino cherries, for garnish, optional

Directions

1. In a large pitcher, combine cranberry juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, dark rum, white rum, and amaretto.
2. Chill until serving time.
3. To serve, have ice, glasses, and garnishes (pineapple wedges, orange slices, and maraschino cherries) on hand so guests can help themselves.

Fog Cutter

“Fog Cutter, hell. After two of these you won’t even see the stuff,” wrote Victor “Trader Vic” Bergeron in his 1947 book Bartender’s Guide.

Ingredients

• 1 ½ oz light rum
• ½ oz dry gin
• ½ oz cognac
• ½ oz pisco
• 1 ½ oz orange juice (freshly squeezed)
• ½ oz orgeat syrup
• ½ oz lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
• ½ oz oloroso sherry

Directions

1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all ingredients except sherry and shake well.
2. Strain into a glass filled with crushed ice.
3. Float the sherry on top.
4. Garnish with the mint sprig.

Wrecked Pirate

A Jack Sparrow favorite.

Ingredients

• 2 parts spiced rum
• 1 part coconut rum
• 2 parts pineapple juice
• Splash Blue Curacao
• Splash lemon lime Soda
• Juice of ½ lime
• Fresh pineapple garnish
• Maraschino cherries garnish

Directions

1. Add 1 cup ice to a shaker.
2. Add the rums, Blue Curacao, pineapple juice and lime juice. Shake well.
3. Pour in a glass and add a splash of lemon-lime soda.
4. Garnish with pineapple and cherries.
