Celebrate National Kahlua Day With Kahlua Cocktail Recipes

Kahlua Cocktails

Today is National Kahlua day! So in celebration, we have some of the creamiest Kahlua cocktail recipes ever concocted. But before you get out the glasses, and call up your party guests, be sure to stock up on supplies at your local Spec’s. Cheers!

Now for the fact of the day: “Kahlua” means “House of the Acolhua people” in the old native tongue of the Veracruz Nahuatl people. (Congratulations, on learning a bit of random knowledge). If that question ever comes up in a trivia game—then you just might score the winning point for your team. But you’re not here for trivia, are you? Let’s get on with the deliciousness.

Indian Summer

This boozy shot tastes like a black coffee with almond-flavored syrup, but the complex flavors of the Kahlua give it a richer flavor. It’s sweet enough to make a great dessert sipper.

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Amaretto
  • 1 part Fury vodka
  • 1 part Kahlua

Instructions:

  1. Fill a shot glass halfway with amaretto.
  2. Pour in equal parts of vodka and Kahlua for the rest. Drink it as a shot.

Espresso Martini

If you haven’t tried the classic combo of Kahlua and coffee—you’re in for a treat! It’s a match made in heaven. Mix up this smooth creation for a caffeine pick-me-up that’s as classy as it is lush.

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot Espresso (or very strong coffee)
  • 1 shot Vodka
  • 1 shot Kahlua
  • 1 shot Half & half*

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well and strain into chilled martini glass.

*If you are able to froth milk like they do in coffee shops, then, by all means, do that and layer it on top instead of shaking up the half & half with the alcohol.

Dark Russian

The classic white Russian’s darker twin. Vodka, chocolate milk, cream, and Kahlua make for an excellent combo.

Ingredients:

  • 1½ oz Vodka
  • ¾ oz Kahlua
  • ice cubes
  • Chocolate milk and cream to top*
  • *(Add chocolate milk and cream to taste depending on how strong you prefer your drink)

Instructions:

  1. Fill a high ball glass with ice.
  2. Add vodka and Kahlua and stir.
  3. Top with as much chocolate milk and cream that you like!

Avalanche Cocktail

The Avalanche Cocktail is essentially the White Russian’s cousin and uses Crown Royal instead of vodka. That, of course, adds notes of caramel to the flavors of sweetened coffee and cream.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice and pour the ingredients in, in order. Stir, serve and enjoy!

Triple-Layered B-52 Shot

Born in the 70’s, this classic Kahlua shot comes right from the folks at Kahlua HQ. It’s composed of Kahlua, Triple sec, and Irish cream.

Ingredients:

  • 13 oz Kahlua liqueur
  • 13 oz Baileys Irish cream liqueur
  • 13 oz Grand Marnier liqueur

Instructions:

  1. Making this cocktail is very simple, but the trick is that you want to layer the shot. Carefully layer the liqueur in this order: Kahlua, Baileys, and finally Grand Marnier. Viola! (Be sure to marvel at its color before downing it.)
