We cannot tell a lie. February is one of our favorite months. One of many reasons? It’s National Cherry Month! Plump and juicy, it’s easy to gush about these berry beauties. Especially when their sweet-tart taste brings the flavor to refreshing cocktail recipes like those below.
Before the month is over (we’ve even got an extra day this year!) pick your own red- letter day to revel in some liquid lusciousness, and head to Spec’s for the crimson mixings. You’ll save a lot of Washingtons!
Amaretto Cherry Sour
2 oz amaretto
5 oz sour mix
½ oz cherry juice
Cherries for garnish
Fill a glass with ice. Pour in amaretto, sour mix and cherry juice. Stir well and garnish with cherries.
Cherry Manhattan
1½ oz whiskey
1½ oz sweet vermouth
¾ oz ruby port
2 tbsp cherry jam
Pour all ingredients into an ice-filled shaker and shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass and enjoy!
Cherry Bomb
4 oz rum
4 oz grenadine syrup
4 oz lime soda
2 tbsp lime juice
Maraschino cherries for garnish
Lime wedge for garnish
Combine rum, lime soda, grenadine and lime juice in a mixing glass. Blend well and pour into an ice-filled glass. Garnish with cherries and a lime wedge.
