Mexican Independence Day History
Mexican Independence Day marks September 16, 1810, the day when priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla urged Mexicans to rise up against the colonial government of Spain. The call today is often referred to as the Grito de Dolores, or Cry of Dolores, named after the town of Dolores—now Dolores Hidalgo—where the cry was originally uttered.

Sparkler
Ingredients
- ¾ oz Silver Tequila
- 2½ oz sparkling wine
- Fresh strawberry chunks
- Splash of simple syrup or agave nectar
Directions
- Serve in a champagne flute. Garnish with strawberries.
Mexican Orchard
Ingredients
- 1 ½ oz Reposado Tequila
- ½ oz Apple Liqueur
- 2 oz lime juice
- 1 oz lemon lime soda
Directions
- In a shaker filled with ice, add all ingredients and roll to mix. Pour into rocks glass.
Camarena Orange
Ingredients
- 1 oz Reposado Tequila
- ½ oz Grand Marnier
- 3 oz orange juice
- ½ oz lime juice
- Orange peel for garnish
Directions
- Shake all in cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass, and garnish with an orange peel.
El Diablo
Ingredients
- 2 oz Reposado Tequila
- ½ oz Crème de Cassis
- ½ oz lime juice
- 2 oz Ginger Beer
Directions
- Shake the first 3 ingredients with ice, then strain over fresh ice in a highball glass.
- Top with ginger beer. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Spicy Pineapple Smash
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Reposado Tequila
- ¾ oz lime juice
- ¾ oz honey syrup
- 3-4 chunks of pineapple
- 2 slices of Jalapeño
Directions
- In a mixing glass muddle the pineapple and jalapeño. Add other ingredients and shake with ice.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
