In honor of National Popcorn Day, choose one of our gourmet variations on the usual popcorn fare below–just to shake things up. Pesto Popcorn – Paired with Napa Valley Cabernet
1 packet salted microwave popcorn
2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
2 tbsp finely chopped basil
3 tbsp finely chopped toasted pine nuts
3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
In a bowl, combine popcorn, parmesan, basil and pine nuts. Add olive oil to popcorn and mix well.
Wasabi Popcorn – Paired with Riesling
1 packet salted microwave popcorn
3 tbsp butter
2 tsp prepared wasabi
½ tsp salt
½ tsp sugar
In a small bowl, microwave butter for 20 seconds or until melted. Add wasabi to butter and blend well, then drizzle over popcorn and mix. Add salt and sugar and mix again.
Aged Gouda Popcorn – Paired with French Chardonnay
1 packet salted microwave popcorn
3 tbsp vegetable oil
¾ cup finely grated aged gouda
1 tbsp smoked paprika
2 tsp salt
Drizzle oil over popcorn and then toss with gouda, paprika and salt.
