Summer Heat, Meet Your Match: Hydrating Cocktails!

Summer is in full swing, which means pool parties, backyard BBQs with the neighbors and time to treat yourself to delicious, icy cold cocktails. But with the 100-degree temperatures, it’s important to stay hydrated while soaking up the sun.

Here are some recipes for tasty cocktails with more nourishing ingredients to help keep you, and your guests, cool and refreshed. For example, coconut water provides electrolytes, beet juice improves blood flow to increase energy, green tea slows the rise of blood sugar and fresh fruits offer an array of antioxidants and vitamins.

Cherry Good Green Tea
4 cups of water
6 oz vodka
6 bags of green tea
6 oz cherry juice
Frozen berries for garnish

Boil the water, pour over the green tea bags and seep for 10 minutes. Pour into a pitcher and cool in the fridge. When you’re ready to serve, stir in the remaining ingredients, pour into ice-filled glasses and garnish with the frozen berries to add a pop of color!

Sparkling Grape-ness
2 cups of pureed red grapes (seedless)
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp honey
2 cups of sparkling coconut water

Grapes for garnish

Puree the grapes in a blender and pour through a sieve into a large bowl, pressing on solids with a spatula. Add the lemon juice and honey, stirring until the honey is dissolved. Add the sparkling coconut water and vodka. Divide into 4 ice-filled glasses and garnish with the grapes.
