Texas has a very rich German heritage, so its no surprise that there are many places to celebrate Oktoberfest right here in the Lone Star State. Here is our list of some of the best places all across Texas to celebrate Oktoberfest! Prost!
WurstFest, New Braunfels
The first is the Wurst! WurstFest that is. This “Ten Day Salute to Sausage” has been attracting locals and tourists alike to the heavily German-influenced hill country for over 40 years. Today it boasts visits numbering over 100,000 annually! It runs from late October through mid-november.
Fredericksburg Oktoberfest
Fredericksburg is one of Texas’ most famous Germanic settlements, so it comes as no surprise the Fredericksburg Oktoberfest made our list. It boasts plenty of Germanic food, music, artisans, and of course bier!
Oktoberfest, Houston
The Houston Oktoberfest, sports a great live music line-up, and extensive beer offering! There’s are even activities like the 6th annual Olympiad games including the Stein race, barrel roll, stein hoisting and legendary brat toss! It’s held Sat. September 30th! Tickets can be bought in advance online.
Beethoven Halle Oktoberfest, San Antonio
Located at San Antonio’s Beethoven Halle und Garten, the Houston Oktoberfest is a traditional German celebration with a full compliment of food, music, drink, dance and fun!
De Kalb Texas Oktoberfest
Held yearly on the first Saturday in October. The De Kalb Oktoberfest kicks off with the Firemen’s pancake breakfast. There’s a parade, talent show, beauty pageant, street dance, classic car exhibit, gymnastics demonstration, carnival, Kids Korner, Lollie Moser Memorial Art Show, Quilts Expo and face painting.
Lancaster Oktoberfest
The Lancaster OktoberFest has something for everyone – a Preview Party with seated dinner on Friday night, children activities and open celebration on Saturday, Bavarian dance performances, live music, authentic German cuisine, root beer on tap, custom-brewed beer plus many Oktoberfest favorites imported from Germany, arts and crafts vendors, and more. It’s located 15 minutes south of Dallas.
Addison Oktoberfest
The Addison Oktoberfest is held in September to coincide with the opening of the Munich Oktoberfest, and it’s one of the biggest and best Oktoberfests in the US!
Surftoberfest, Corpus Christi
This is one of the most unique Oktoberfests in Texas. Corpus Christi’s Surftoberfest features draft beer from all of Corpus Christi’s local breweries, as well as live polka music, great food and more!
Oktoberfest, SouthLake
This year marks Southlake’s 16th anniversary of Oktoberfest. Great food, live entertainment fill the buzzing town-square, as well as handcrafted arts and crafts booths. There’s a great children’s are for the kids, and you can even sign up your dod to participate in the ever-popular wiener dog race! It runs Oct-6-8th.
