When Life Gives You Lemons… Make Lemonade Cocktails

Make lemonade cocktails! Today is National Lemonade Day! But this year, we’re not celebrating with any old lemonade you can buy on the sidewalk. Instead, we’re mixing up our favorite lemonade cocktails and adding a fun twist to this summer favorite.

Frozen Coconut

2 oz coconut rum
3 tbsp frozen lemonade
1 ½ cups ice
Lime wedge for garnish

Place ice, lemonade and rum in a blender. Blend until slushy and pour into a glass. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!

Cajun Lemonade

1 ½ oz white rum
1 oz Pimm’s No. 1
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz simple syrup
2 dashes hot sauce
Splash of lemon-lime soda
Lemon wheels for garnish

Combine rum, Pimm’s No. 1, lemon juice, simple syrup and hot sauce in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake well and strain into a glass filled with ice. Top with soda, stir and add lemon wheels for garnish.

Classic Shandy

¾ cup of your favorite lager
¾ cup sparkling water
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp sugar
Lemon wheel for garnish

Combine lemon juice, sugar and sparkling water in a tall glass. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Fill the glass with ice and add the beer. Stir gently and garnish with a lemon wheel.

Southern Lemonade

6 oz bourbon
1 ½ cups water
1 cup sugar
1 cup lemon juice
½ cup orange juice
Splash of club soda
Mint leaves, orange wheels & lemon wheels for garnish

In a saucepan, mix water and sugar. Heat and let simmer for about 5 minutes. Once the sugar dissolves, let the liquid cool. In a large pitcher, combine the simple syrup, lemon juice, orange juice and bourbon. Stir well, then add the orange wheels, lemon wheels and mint leaves. To serve, fill glass ¾ of the way with lemonade and top with a splash of club soda.
